Operations¶
This page covers Promptfoo's database, the viewer lifetime, backups, and support.
Security model¶
- CLI by default. Nothing listens until you start the viewer.
- No baked provider key. You add credentials after launch, in a file
readable only by
ubuntu. - Viewer has no sign-in. The bounded unit restricts its network to the instance and stops after one hour. The workstation path is a Session Manager forward to port 15500. Other local users can still read its results.
- State stays in the ubuntu home directory. The database is
~/.local/share/promptfoo/promptfoo.db.
The database¶
Later walkthroughs refuse to start a new evaluation until earlier evaluation
IDs and their JSON are still present. That check lives in the demo command.
Leave ~/promptfoo-results/ in place if you want the next demo to see the
earlier runs.
Stop Promptfoo CLI processes before you copy promptfoo.db.
Backups¶
Stop CLI processes, including promptfoo-viewer if it is running. Then copy:
~/.local/share/promptfoo/promptfoo.db~/promptfoo-results- the evaluation config you passed to
promptfoo eval
Keep provider credential files with the same care as the database, and store
the backup where only your operators can read it. First boot preserves
evaluation state that is already on disk. After you restore those paths, the
next walkthrough still requires the earlier evaluation IDs and unchanged JSON
before it starts a new one. You can also run promptfoo eval yourself.
Updates¶
A new Marketplace version is a new instance. Restore the database, the
results directory, and your config onto the ubuntu home directory of an
image with the same application version. Stop processes before the copy.
The read-only tree under /opt/promptfoo belongs to the image. Do not
replace it to upgrade Promptfoo.
Support¶
Email info@softwaresushi.com with the
Marketplace version (promptfoo --version), the Region, and the command.
Omit provider keys and evaluation text you cannot share.
The software rate on the listing is USD 0.03 per running instance-hour. EC2, EBS, data transfer, and model-provider usage are separate. The Promptfoo documentation describes the upstream project. License layout for this package is on the overview.
