Troubleshooting

Checks for the CrewAI failures described on the listing and its published getting-started page.

First boot is not active (exited)

Cause: sushi-crewai-firstboot is still running, or it failed. The unit is a one-shot. A successful exit is the ready state.

Fix:

sudo cloud-init status --wait
sudo systemctl status sushi-crewai-firstboot --no-pager

Leave /etc/crewai/ in place. The unit keeps existing state and does not need a deleted identity to retry.

The demo fails before it writes a manifest

Cause: Amazon Nova Lite is not enabled, the instance role cannot call bedrock:InvokeModel on arn:aws:bedrock:us-east-1::foundation-model/amazon.nova-lite-v1:0, or HTTPS egress to Bedrock in us-east-1 is blocked. IMDSv2 must be reachable by ubuntu.

Fix: correct the permission or the network path, then start a new run. The failed attempt keeps its task directory when one was created. The offline fixture checks local execution without a model call. It does not prove provider access.

sushi-crewai read rejects the directory

Cause: --require-provider accepts a real Bedrock manifest and rejects an offline-fixture manifest. Readback also rejects a skipped tool or a finding that no longer matches the CSV.

Fix: pass the directory the Bedrock demo printed, not the fixture directory. Run the read as ubuntu after reconnecting:

sushi-crewai read "$result_dir" --require-provider

Use the fixture's own directory only as local-execution evidence, without --require-provider.

Totals differ from a previous run

Cause: each demo builds a new six-row CSV. The dataset identity and the integer amounts vary. The check is that the reporter's JSON matches that run's CSV, and that an independent reader recomputes the same totals.

Fix: compare result.json with the sales.csv in the same directory. Do not expect the next run to repeat the same cents.

A restore does not open old results

Cause: the restore dropped a directory, changed ownership or modes, or landed on a different application version.

Fix: restore /home/ubuntu/crewai-workspace/, /home/ubuntu/crewai-results/, and /etc/crewai/ together onto the same application version. Preserve ownership and modes. Run sushi-crewai read before new work.
