CrewAI Agent Starter

AI Agents CrewAI 1.15.28 Hardened AMI

CrewAI 1.15.28 on Ubuntu 24.04 runs a two-agent workflow as ubuntu. An analyst reads one sample CSV through a fixed calculator, and a reporter writes JSON that a separate reader checks. You can run it against Amazon Bedrock Nova Lite, or run an offline fixture that does not call a model.

Run a ready-made two-agent CrewAI workflow (analyst and reporter) that turns sample sales data into structured JSON.

Check results independently

A separate reader recomputes every total from the saved CSV, including after a reboot.

Uses Amazon Bedrock (Nova Lite) through the instance role, so no API keys are stored; an offline self-test runs without a model.

What is on the image

This guide matches Marketplace package 0.1.3 (CrewAI 1.15.28). Check the listing for the version currently on offer.

  • CrewAI 1.15.28 in an isolated Python 3.12 environment under /opt/crewai/. Those files are owned by root.
  • Two agents for the supplied task: an analyst with one CSV calculator, and a reporter with no tools.
  • Work directories created on first boot, mode 0700: /home/ubuntu/crewai-workspace/ and /home/ubuntu/crewai-results/. Existing state is kept.
  • An identity directory, /etc/crewai/.
  • Helpers sushi-crewai and /opt/sushi/docs/demo.sh.
  • Notices under /usr/share/doc/crewai/. Source archives are under /opt/crewai/sources/. Installed inventories are under /opt/sushi/evidence/.

The starter opens no web listener. You do not forward a port.

Scope and limits

The analyst has one local calculator, sum_sales_csv, limited to the current dataset. It cannot open arbitrary paths, run code, or reach the network. The reporter has no tools. Code execution, delegation, memory, planning, telemetry, and hosted tracing are disabled.

Bedrock native tool use is passed to CrewAI so the calculator actually runs. The transport does not run the tool. Each request has a 60-second HTTP timeout and a bounded response. Each run allows at most eight model calls.

Optional integration extras, including boto3, are not installed. Other CrewAI integrations need their own review before you add them.

t3.medium (4 GiB of memory) with an encrypted gp3 root volume of at least 24 GiB and IMDSv2. The real-model demo calls Amazon Bedrock in us-east-1, so the instance needs HTTPS egress to that Region and to the Session Manager endpoints when you use Session Manager.

Billing

The listing states a software rate of USD 0.03 per running instance-hour. Confirm the offer before you subscribe. EC2, EBS, data transfer, and model usage are billed separately. A Bedrock run makes 2 to 8 model calls. The offline fixture does not.
