Gotify Notification Server

A private Gotify notification server on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, ready to run on your own EC2 instance. Your scripts and services send messages to it over a simple REST API; you read them in the web UI or receive them live over a WebSocket. Messages are kept in SQLite. Gotify listens on loopback only: you open the web UI through AWS Systems Manager port forwarding.

Launch on AWS Marketplace Getting started

What is included

  • Gotify server 3.1.1-sushi1, a Software Sushi build from the pinned upstream v3.1.1 source with updated dependencies. It is not the official release binary. It is installed at /usr/local/bin/gotify.
  • The Gotify web UI, served by the same process.
  • SQLite message store in /var/lib/gotify/data/gotify.db.
  • Per-instance identity. First boot creates this instance's TLS certificate and key and a random password for the admin user. The image contains no password, certificate or database.
  • Locked-down defaults. Registration, plugins, OIDC and Let's Encrypt are off. Local username and password login is on.
  • A built-in walkthrough at /opt/sushi/docs/demo.sh.

Ports

Port Protocol Listens on Purpose
8443 HTTPS 127.0.0.1 Web UI, REST API and WebSocket stream
8080 HTTP 127.0.0.1 Redirects GET and HEAD to HTTPS, refuses other methods

No inbound security group rule is needed.

Billing

The software is billed per running instance-hour on t3.medium, as set out in the AWS Marketplace offer terms. Check the listing for the current price and any free trial. AWS bills EC2, EBS and data transfer separately.

Upstream project

Gotify server is developed by jmattheis and the Gotify project and published under the MIT license. Software Sushi packages it independently; this offer does not include Gotify project support. The corresponding source for this build is on the instance at /usr/share/doc/gotify/gotify-corresponding-source.tar.gz. See the Gotify server project on GitHub for the upstream documentation.
