Goose CLI Agent
Goose CLI Agent is an Ubuntu 24.04 AMI with Goose, the open-source AI agent for the command line. You give it a task in plain English, and Goose plans the steps, reads and writes files and runs shell commands until the job is done, using the model provider you configure. The instance is a private agent workstation that you reach through Session Manager, with no inbound ports.

Quick start
Full guide →What is included¶
| Component | Details |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, x86_64 |
| Goose | v1.54.0 command-line agent at /usr/local/bin/goose |
| Tools | Goose's built-in developer extension, for reading and writing files and running shell commands |
| Workspace | /var/lib/goose/workspace, owned by ubuntu, with a sample hello.py |
| Example config | /etc/goose/config.yaml.example, created on first boot |
| Self-checks | A walkthrough at /opt/sushi/docs/demo.sh and a self-test at /opt/sushi/bin/smoke.sh. Both use a local test model, so no paid model calls are made. |
The image does not include the Goose desktop app, and no messaging gateway is enabled. No model, model credits or provider keys are included: you bring your own.
Ports¶
Goose does not listen on any port. You do not need any inbound security group rule. The instance needs outbound HTTPS for Session Manager and for your model provider.
Recommended instance¶
t3.medium(2 vCPU, 4 GiB RAM).- At least 16 GiB encrypted gp3 root volume.
- IMDSv2.
Billing¶
You pay an hourly software fee for each running instance, shown on the AWS Marketplace listing. An optional five-day free trial covers the software fee for one instance and then converts to hourly billing. It is the same software before and after the trial. EC2, EBS, data transfer and your model provider's charges are billed separately, including during the trial.
Where to go next¶
- Getting started: launch, connect, run the walkthrough and give Goose its first task.
- Configuration: providers, keys, the config file and your own repositories.
- Operations: security model, updates, backups and support.
- Troubleshooting: common problems and fixes.
Upstream project¶
Goose is published by AAIF / Block under the Apache-2.0 license. Software Sushi packages it independently and does not claim upstream endorsement.
